- Operation completed over two days as planned
OVERVIEW
Universal Cranes played a key role in the modernisation of a railway crossing in Brisbane by installing nine 35-metre-long, 76-tonne precast concrete bridge girders. Working for the Bielby Hull Joint Venture, Universal Cranes provided full support with assembly and lift planning.
The complex project took place during active rail operations. It required months of preparation and close collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure seamless execution.
PROJECT CHALLENGES
To minimise risks during the required rail closure, the bridge girders were stored on-site ahead of installation. This allowed the lifts to proceed without delay within a tight time window.
Space for crane assembly was limited, so the 1,200-tonne crawler crane was operated from an adjacent yard, away from the rail corridor and carriageway. The LTR 11200 was tracked in fully rigged to install the girders safely beneath powerlines.

The operation was successfully completed over two days as planned.
